Abstract
CACERES-MARTINEZ, Carlos H.; ACEVEDO-RINCON, Aldemar A. and SANCHEZ-MONTANO, Luis R.. Records of plastic consumption of Tremarctos ornatus (Carnivora: Ursidae) and Nasuella olivacea (Carnivora: Procyonidae) in the Tamá Natural National Park, Colombia. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2015, vol.86, n.3, pp.839-842. ISSN 2007-8706. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rmb.2015.07.004.
It is reported for the first time the presence of plastic wastes in the feces of Andean bear (Tremarctos ornatus ) and in the stomach contents of an Andean coati (Nasuella olivacea ). These were found in the Santa Isabel Páramo, and La Cabrera Páramo, within the tama National Natural Park, located in Norte de Santander department, Colombia. These records show the problems of pollution that are suffering the natural areas and its impact on wildlife, due to human activities. One of the most influential factors is the presence of polymers, since when eaten, they can cause death and / or bioaccumulation by wildlife present in these areas, as it proven in this paper.
