The knowledge on the diversity of the subfamilies of Elateridae (Coleoptera): Agrypninae, Cardiophorinae, Cebrioninae, Denticollinae, Elaterinae, Lissominae, Negastrinae, Semiotinae and Thylacosterninae, occurring in Mexico is presented. Comments about their morphological and ecological characteristics, phylogenetic relationships, endemicity and taxonomic study are also given.
