Abstract

RIECHERS-PEREZ, Alejandra  and  VIDAL-LOPEZ, Roberto. Records of Choeronycteris mexicana (Chiroptera: Phyllostomidae) in Chiapas. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2009, vol.80, n.3, pp.879-882. ISSN 2007-8706.

We confirm the presence of the Mexican long-tongued bat (Choeronycteris mexicana) in Chiapas. Five specimens of this bat were captured at 3 sites within the Parque Nacional Cañon del Sumidero and represent the first verified records of the occurrence of C. mexicana in the Chiapas Central Plateau, demonstrating a continuous geographic distribution from Mexico to Central America.

Keywords : Mexican long-tongued bat; geographic distribution; first record; Parque Nacional Cañon del Sumidero; Chiapas Central Plateau.
