Resumen

GNADINGER, Melissa  y  ESPINOSA, Agustín. National identity, social dominance and perception of the normative system in Lima-Peru. Polis [online]. 2018, vol.14, n.2, pp.15-38. ISSN 2594-0686.

The relationship among National Identity, Social Dominance (SD) and perception of Normative System (NS) were analyzed in citizens of upper middle class from Lima (n = 156). Results show high levels of valuation and identification with the national in-group and there is consensus to recognize self-stereotypes of Warmth and Competence as the most representative of it. Also, a predominantly negative perception of NS and low levels of SD are observed in participants. At correlational level, results show that self-stereotype of Morality is inversely related to a negative representation of the NS, whereas attribute of Warmth is directly related to a positive perception of the NS, and the SD is also related to a positive evaluation of NS. Although NS representation does not affect levels of identification or assessment of national in-group membership, it will be linked to how people self-stereotypically represent their group.

Palabras llave : national identity; social dominance; perception of the normative system.
