This article presents the historical aspects concerning the implementation in 1941 and the subsequent evolution of the protection of the constitutional guarantees as an institution of fundamental rights guaranteed in the Republic of Panama. In that sense it is discussed in detail the constitutional and legal provisions regulating the institution in the current Panamanian law, and the article concludes with the revision of the peculiarities of jurisprudential development of this safeguard, in particular the Supreme Court of Justice.
