The brown tumor is a lesion that occasionally develops in the jaws in patients with hyperparathyroidism. These are tumors that ought to be differentiated from giant cell lesions because it is necessary to make a differential diagnosis of giant central cell granuloma, by elaborating an adequate clinical history, physical examination and laboratory studies that include serum calcium, phosphors and alkaline phosphate. If the patient has been diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism, the paratiroidectomy is the initial treatment of the brown tumor, due to the fact that normalization of the parathyroid function provides the reduction or involvement the tumor. This is a report of a brown tumor case in the jaw with parathyroidectomy treatment.
