Abstract

TOUDERT, Djamel Eddine. Digital divide and profiles of ICT uses in Mexico: An exploratory study with microdata. Culturales [online]. 2015, vol.3, n.1, pp.167-200. ISSN 2448-539X.

Inequity in the socioterritorial ICT′s appropriation was mainly approached from an accessibility perspective to these devices and services. However, with increased availability of these tools, accessibility appears to be insufficient to mitigate the digital divide impacts, which generated the need for a complementary approach based on the quality and efficiency of use. The advent of microdata opened the possibility to a comprehensive approach and, in the same way, a new conceptual and operational challenge for research. In order to access the new readings of the digital divide concept, this essay proposes an exploration through profiles ICT′s uses.

Keywords : Digital divide; Mexico; profiles; microdata.
