Resumen

ZUNIGA-HIDALGO, Tania; LEON-ROSARIO, Gabriela; HERNANDEZ-BALTAZAR, Efrén  y  MELGOZA-CONTRERAS, Luz María. Impact of esthetic coating on the release of Nifedipine push-pull osmotic tablets. Rev. mex. cienc. farm [online]. 2013, vol.44, n.3, pp.52-59. ISSN 1870-0195.

In the present work two formulations of push-pull osmotic tablets containing Nifedipine were elaborated varying molecular weight of viscous agent (HPMC). Tablets were elaborated in a hydraulic press and coated with cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB-171-15) and had an orifice size of 1mm. Subsequently, the tablets were coated with esthetic coating to study their influence on release rate. Osmotic tablets were tested with and without esthetic coating using dissolution apparatus 2 with sinkers. Tablets without esthetic coating did not reach the percentage of released drug (80 %) established by USP 33 for dissolution test at 13 hours (F1, 66.10 % and F2, 76.01 %). However osmotic tablets with esthetic coating released the percentage required at all times established by the USP at 13 hours, (F1, 81.26 % and F2, 86.99 %).

Palabras llave : Push-Pull osmotic tablets; Nifedipine; Cellulose Acetate Butyric; HPMC; Polyethylene Oxide.
