Abstract

We evaluated the antimicrobial activity of different plant organs of the species Cestrum buxifolium Kunt, for Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, through the disk diffusion method, the ethanol extract of the fruits and leaves of C. buxifolium inhibitthe growth of E. coli at a concentration of 30 mg/ml, the ethanol extracts of fruits and stems inhibit the growth front of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the same concentration with respect to the positive control, none of the extracts were evaluated for inhibition versus Staphylococcus aureus.
