This work reveals the identity, life, and work of Marcos Arróniz, a Mexican poet from the first third of the 19th century. His genealogy, his apprenticeship and performance in the context of public life during the second third of that century, are traced, also, a brief analysis of his poetry is made, focusing on his poem Celos (1852), the most complex and ambitious of his works, and one of the aesthetic pillars of Mexican romanticism.
