NAVA LE FAVI, Daniela. Dance morenada in the city. Public space, identities and coloniality in the experiences of devotes to the Virgin of Urkupiña in Salta, Argentina. Andamios [online]. 2018, vol.15, n.38, pp.65-90. ISSN 2594-1917. https://doi.org/10.29092/uacm.v15i38.652.
The work revives the experiences of women during the dance of the “morenada”, which are part of the processions in honor of the Virgin of Urkupiña, in the city of Salta-Argentina. From an interdisciplinary approach, the way in which devotion is configured in an emerging practice is studied, that is, it recalls a past denied in the national and provincial imaginary (linked to the Andean-indigenous) while it disputes a public space devoted to canonical and catholical festivities. The analysis is a contribution to think how religiosity is a fertile place to think, identities, legitimacies and forms of inclusion and social exclusion within the framework of modernity-coloniality.
