Resumen
ORTIZ SANCHEZ, Maai Enai y TORRES CRUZ, César. Art in Dispute against AIDS: the Work of Óscar Sánchez. Andamios [online]. 2017, vol.14, n.34, pp.35-57. ISSN 2594-1917.
This paper has the objective to analyze some artistic manifestations by Mexican artist Óscar Sánchez about HIV/AIDS from its corporeal and auto-representational implications. Although some epidemiologist scholars have argued that we are living in a “stable” era due to antiretroviral therapy, we are interested in challenge this argument through a feminist account that informs the artistic field on the corporeal-affective implications involved in the socio-cultural experience of the virus. We try in this article to turn back to the 80´s artistic manifestations about hiv/aids as a reminder at the importance to make visible the current characteristics of the illness and propose to re(use) the artistic representations of the body as a expression-complain channel to this new “normalization” era.
