This paper examines the economic policy challenges facing Mexico´s new government, emphasizing the imperative of accelerating economic growth as a precondition to counteract adverse trends in income distribution, poverty and social mobility. The paper examines how faster economic growth would contribute to generate resources for that purpose and discusses the monetary, exchange rate and fiscal policy changes necessary to ignite faster growth in the short run.
