The purpose is to analyze the role of economic policy in the process of structural transformation of the Mexican economy over the past three decades. It starts from the premise that economic policy has an important role to create a miracle or an economic disaster, where the principle of income interacts with the price mechanism to achieve the transformation of production processes that may be reflected in economic growth sustained. It is concluded that productive public spending has an important role to generate a structural change, while contributing to increasing the productive capacities of production factors that encourage competitiveness.
