Resumen

CASTANEDA RENTERIA, Liliana Ibeth  y  CONTRERAS TINOCO, Karla Alejandra. “I hope the SNI was worth it”. Tensions, negotiations and ruptures between female scientists and their partners. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2021, vol.11, n.22, 00007.  Epub 16-Feb-2024. ISSN 2007-8846.  https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl11222021129.

In this work, the experiences of reconciliation between work - family life in women scientists in higher education institutions are analyzed. In particular, the data referring to the negotiations, gains, tensions and conflicts of these women with their partners are exposed. The study was qualitative, they conducted 21 interviews with scientists who are members of the National System of Researchers of the University of Guadalajara. The results show that women explicitly demand and fight for the active participation of their partners in raising children and in domestic activities. In some cases, there are ruptures, tensions and losses of the couple in favor of the defense of the individual academic project. Likewise, paid work has allowed some women to reposition themselves and occupy a place of greater recognition and worth in front of their partner. In general terms, it can be concluded that academic women are active agents who seek active participation in the private sphere of their partners.
