Resumen

SOLIS LOPEZ, Mayra Karina et al. Traditional trade practices at Cosme del Razo market in San Pedro Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2020, vol.10, n.21, 00038.  Epub 14-Mar-2022. ISSN 2007-8846.  https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl102120201191.

The objective of this study is to analyze the traditional trade practices carried out by Peasant Domestic Units in the Cosme del Razo market in San Pedro Cholula, Puebla. To generate information, a survey was applied to 102 merchants of products and byproducts derived from family farming. Traders were classified into established and semiestablished. The main products sold were fruits from the Central Supply, as well as vegetables and aromatic and medicinal plants whose origin is the backyard of the Peasant Domestic Units. It was found that women, by constituting a majority sector (90 percent), not only make an important contribution to commercial activity, but also to the reproduction of the Peasant Domestic Unit. Family work, ancestral knowledge, the use of natural resources and cooperative relationships are aspects that shape and structure markets, guaranteeing the permanence of Peasant Domestic Units in traditional commerce.

Palabras llave : markets; agricultural products; women traders; semiestablished traders; backyard.
