The paper analyzes the student movement of 1968 from the social and cultural history of the emotions, with emphasis on the construction of political fear. The methodology focuses on the analysis of editorials and journalistic notes of the newspaper El Sol del Centro in order to identify expressions related to the student movement. Although it concentrates on a single journalistic source, the work shows that there is a need for further investigation of the discourses around the student movement of 1968 in other provincial newspapers. This paper shows a new perspective for studying the 1968 student movement: the social and cultural history of emotions from journalistic sources. It is concluded that emotions played a relevant role in the negative conception of the 1968 movement produced by newspapers.
