The objective of this study is to present some historiographic, theoretical and empirical notes that contribute to the current interpretation of marginalization. The methodology used is qualitative, of historiographic type, as well as the file documentary review of a particular case. It is determined that the controversial process of class and territory in El Chico since 1920 can explain the position of a marginalized space in the conurbation of Xalapa. It is a compilation work of historiographical notes, and not an interpretative analysis of historical sociology. One of the contributions of the study is the interpretation of marginalization from a dominated social space and without access to the power of capital in the history of urban territories. It is concluded that the marginalization in the municipality of El Chico responds to the historical-structural position of the subaltern classes in the urban social space.
