Following the approaches of several authors, a first approximation to the strategies of some Catholics is presented, even with the secularization process that Mexican society has undergone, in order to fight and protect itself from the insecurity and violence suffered in the state of Michoacán. They are neither new nor encouraged by the Catholic institution, but several cult figures are sheltered under this religion. The ethnographic information presented comes from interviews applied to inhabitants of different ages and social sectors of a medium-sized city in Michoacán.
