When assuming the Cortázar aesthetic balance, Montiel Figueiras emphasizes the need of intertextuality in knowledge and fundaments of the Ciudad Tomada anthology. His work entails a similar search through characters that reveal the perception of a contradictory space full of painful reactions, anticipated anguish that should overcome memory or the imprecise image of an "animal presence", as well as expressions of qualifying character that highlight the ironic and corrosive abandon of fiction.
