Resumen
CUEVA, Marcos. La indulgencia y la omisión: algunos orígenes religiosos de la intelectualidad latinoamericana. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2014, vol.4, n.7, pp.204-233. ISSN 2007-8846.
This article proposes to demonstrate that in Latin America there was no secularization of the intellectual function. This function keeps on having religious features. This article shows that it is a question of a Catholicism marked by the Contrarreforma and the Inquisition, and for the practices of the New World. The Enlightenment did not take place in Latin America, in the measurement in that radical rupture exists neither with the religion, nor real autonomy of the public space not of the debate of ideas, but for that of credence. Scarcely now academic spaces more independent from the religion have arisen, laymen and "of reason".
