The General Estoria, of Alfonso X The Wise, was started in earlies 1270s. The importance of the manuscripts lies, besides the interest of its contents, in the vernacular writing, its complexity, its wealth of sources. In the following pages we will see the work over the centuries and studies that researchers from different disciplines have made around this important document, that is already considered as one of the best literary works of Spanish literature.
