International migration is beginning to link Sierra de Zongolica in Veracruz to new experiences. For the moment, reflection on the changes caused by leaving for the north is not a priority issue in Nahua communities in the area, given the urgent necessity to meet basic needs. This article provides a contextual overview enabling one to deal with the various facets of migration from Zongolica (rural-rural, rural-urban and international) as well as a description of the trends in its municipalities and communities on the basis of its inhabitants' experience in the United States.
