Resumen

SALA, Gabriela Adriana. Sobrecalificación de los migrantes del Cono Sur residentes en Argentina y Brasil. Migr. Inter [online]. 2009, vol.5, n.2, pp.122-152. ISSN 2594-0279.

This article estimates the level of over-qualification of migrant workers from latin America's Southern Cone living in Argentina and Brazil using two methodologies. The first, based on the relationship between an occupation's required skills and the level of education, shows the relevance of over-qualification among the border migrant workers living in Argentina. The second methodology measures each worker's years of schooling and the average years of schooling for the occupational group as a whole. In Argentina, the educational level for most of the workers was compatible with the average educational requirements for the occupation, and a substantial part of the border workers had less schooling than was required, on average, in the occupational group in which they worked. In Brazil, this methodology detects a higher frequency of over-qualification among migrant workers from the Southern Cone than among workers born in that country.
