Resumen
PAPAIL, Jean. De asalariado a empresario: la reinserción laboral de los migrantes internacionales en la región centro-occidente de México. Migr. Inter [online]. 2002, vol.1, n.3, pp.79-102. ISSN 2594-0279.
Mexican migration to the United States has increased greatly during the last 20 years, particularly from the country's west-central region, and it has become more urban. A 2000 survey in several of this region's mid-sized cities focused on the modalities for resettlement of international migrants in their communities of origin. It yielded data that allows for analysis of the restructuring of status, basically from waged to non-waged. Work trajectories, income levels of migrants in the United States, and the amounts and uses of remittances to places of origin have shown the importance of migratory work for investment and job creation in local economies. These things have also shown the limitations of these resources in regard to local development.
