Abstract

PIZZORNO, Pablo. Popular paths and populist intervention in Latin America. Latinoamérica [online]. 2018, n.67, pp.65-94. ISSN 2448-6914.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cialc.24486914e.2018.67.57086.

In the context of the later years crisis of Latin American populist governments, some authors have tried a comparison between these and classic populisms in the region. Recreating classic interpretations inspired by Marxist theory, these views state that the populist intervention has been destined mainly to prevent the autonomous political development of the popular classes. This paper aims to problematize the vision of the Latin American populisms that underlies these views and proposes an interpretation of the origins of Peronism and Varguism that underlines the political and identitary constitution of popular classes through populist intervention.

Keywords : Populism; Peronism; Varguism; Latin America.
