This article analyses the work by José Enrique Rodó Motivos de Proteo according to contemporary theoretical discussions. The Uruguayan’s book is a useful tool for analising literary phenomena and a knowledge about living. It portrays a fragmentary and archipelagic writing organised under a polilogic perspective. At the same time, this text’s aesthetics and epistemology contains a knowledge of coexistence.
