Abstract

BEDOLLA VILLASENOR, Pastor. Liberation Theology: pastoral and revolutionary violence. Latinoamérica [online]. 2017, n.64, pp.185-221. ISSN 2448-6914.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cialc.24486914e.2017.64.56841.

The article makes an overall assessment of the relationship between Liberation Theology (LT) and the violent historical reality that the most prominent representatives of this pastoral trend in Latin America faced during the twentieth century. The positioning of these theologians against violence of revolutionary nature serves as the main theme of this work. After the introductory approach to the history of the emergence of LT, some of the complexities in the opinions of those who reflected on the legitimacy of revolutionary violence as a historical instrument of emancipation is presented.

Keywords : Theology; Liberation; Revolutionary violence; Pastoral; Latin America.
