Abstract

The article aims to develop an analytical comparison between institutional dictatorships of the Armed Forces of Argentina (1976-1983) and Guatemala (1982 and 1985) regarding the legitimacy of origin, the organizational form of the exercise of political power and legitimacy of exercise. Through these key dimensions, we seek to outline some of the similarities, which can be explained, according to our working hypothesis, by the political and military relations supported by both governments in the fight against subversion.
