MOLINA, Hebe Beatriz. The Independence struggles in the romantic Argentinean novel. Latinoamérica [online]. 2011, n.53, pp.57-81. ISSN 2448-6914.

Between 1840 and 1880, there are only seven novels about episodes from the independents period. The aim of this paper is to prove that, from the perspective of historical poetics, there was an intrinsic condition in the concept of novel at use in the mid- 19th century which limited the authors' interest in that period. The novels dramatize mainly the option" Nation-Beloved"; but, considering the main characteristic of the genre -idealization of daily events to strengthen and promote good deeds- novels concentrate on the diegetic power of present events, and overlook those from the past.

Palavras-chave : Historical novel; Historical poetics; Politics and Literature; Independentist period; Argentine Literature.
