GOMEZ PRADA, Jaime A. Unveiling Chaos: Débora Arango, the Artist and her Work, from the Perspective of Cornelius Castoriadis. LiminaR [online]. 2021, vol.19, n.2, pp.85-100. Epub 27-Sep-2021. ISSN 2007-8900. https://doi.org/10.29043/liminar.v19i2.844.
This article analyzes the life and work of the Colombian painter Débora Arango (1907-2005) from the perspective of the Greek-French philosopher Cornelius Castoriadis (1922-1997). The life of the artist and her works are examined in light of certain ideas, such as the project of social and individual autonomy that frames Castoriadis’s work, and his particular approach regarding art, which he explored in the text Window into Chaos. This article endeavors to understand the connection that unites a creator with his/her work, examining a specific case study, i.e., the plastic artist Débora Arango.
