Resumen

ARRIOLA-VEGA, Luis Alfredo. Mexican-Guatemalans Involvements in National and International Multi-mobility. LiminaR [online]. 2016, vol.14, n.2, pp.131-149. ISSN 2007-8900.

This article scrutinizes the way a Mexican-Guatemalan population has experienced multiple moves over several decades. Longitudinal data was gathered through ethnographic methods to elicit life-long trajectories. The protracted approach makes possible to understand individual mobilities within wider frameworks of analysis, for instance the family group. Because family, particular circumstances, or the life stage of the migrant, affect decisions regarding mobility, in-depth comprehension of personal trajectories gets complicated. At the crux of this complex issue is that interrupted, circular and return migrations, among many types of mobility, become embedded in processes such as contemporary mixed flows and onward-migration.

Palabras llave : migration; mixed flow; onward-migration; return migration.
