The main objective of this paper is to show the importance of archaeological exploration as a method that would allow us to go beyond the mere knowledge of the distribution of archaeological sites in the Rio Bec region. In this manner, It shows the prospecting work carried out in the archaeological site of Okolhuitz, Campeche, and its results in order to make it possible to move forward with the knowledge and analysis of the settlement pattern in the region in which it is located.
