Abstract

This work focuses on the analysis of the historical context related to the Proyecto Mesoamérica, questioning the official version that tries to bring down the economical rates indexes and social backwardness of the south -south-east of Mexico and Central America, when everything seems to indicate that it is one more of the attempts for taking advantage of the strategic location of the region and its valuable natural resources (forest, mineral and water), in benefit of the big world powers, especially The United States. The results obtained till now from the putting in march of the Plan Puebla-Panamá, now Proyecto Mesoamérica, indicate that communications and transport infrastructure have improved in the area, but continues existing a high social and economic marginalization of the people; whereas the new strategies of the agreement appear towards a clear utilization and exploitation of the natural resources, more than to promoting the industrialization with technology of top and the own conservation of the environment.
