This paper, like a part of an ongoing investigation, is focused on the historical context and the ideas and ideological substrate that delineate, may be are the three main social representations that gravitate on the city of Tijuana. The existing notions about the nature of this city, set along the twentieth century, affect on the national and international social imaginary, and reach diverse topics as the political, social, artistic, academic, and media issues. The set of images produced on Tijuana is cross-cutting by notions of frontier, northern Mexican, national culture, globalization and homeland.
