GUTIERREZ WING, Enrique S.; AGUIRRE ROMANO, Jorge E.; COLIN OCAMPO, Jorge  y  CORTES GARCIA, Claudia. Balanceo de rotores rígidos sin emplear rodados de prueba. Ingenier. mecáni. tecnolog. desarroll [online]. 2011, vol.3, n.6, pp.195-205. ISSN 1665-7381.

A method for the correction of unbalance in rigid rotors mounted on flexible supports is presented. The method is based on the assumption that the natural frequencies, damping ratios and non-normalized mode shapes can be obtained from the response of the rotor-supports system to the unbalance forces that are to be cancelled-out, using data from a single run-up or run-down. The novelty of the method lies in that, in contrast to traditional methods, neither numerical models nor measurements of the response to known trial unbalances are required in order to determine the magnitude and location of the unbalance correction masses. The method is based on the relationship that exists between the modal and the spatial parameters of the rotor-supports system. The equations that express such relationships are derived here and their use for the computation of unbalance correction masses is described. The application of the method is illustrated with a numerical example. This work demonstrates the feasibility of balancing rigid rotors without trial balancing runs, and is considerably simpler than existing balancing methods, since a detailed knowledge of the geometry and construction of the rotor is not required.
