This article aims to identify common elements which can be useful to know and differentiate the kinds of land amortization and disentailment processes that took place throughout the history of Mexico. Without trying to propose an exhaustive historical analysis, we take up the most relevant cases experienced in our country, from the colonial times to the agrarian reform. The objetive is to provide enough evidence that allows the understanding of the structural agrarian processes and the disentailment under way.
