This article explores the relationship between thejournalistic atmosphere of the late sixties in Mexico and the 1968 student movement. It mainly focuses on the image of a social movement which was built by a guild that traditionally questions power and which society had to decipher. Moreover it explains how ed the student movement open the possibilities to recover the debate in an ossified media. Students in the street demanded freedom of expression. Such demand afected journalists' work and the student movement nourished, indirectly, a generation of journalists that worked with a different perspective.
