Abstract

RUIZ LAGIER, Verónica. El Maestro Rural and The Revista de Educación: The Dream of Transforming the Country from the Editorial. Sig. his [online]. 2013, vol.15, n.29, pp.36-63. ISSN 1665-4420.

The journals El Maestro Rural and Revista de Educación were published during the periods known as Maximato and Cardenismo. The main objective of this work is to provide elements of comparison between the educational policies and the official discourse which precedes the model of "socialist education" driven in the government of Lázaro Cárdenas. As the reader will find, both periods had more affinities than differences with regard to topics such as adult and indigenous education, and of course, education as a means of unification of thought and formation of the Mexican nation.

Keywords : Socialist Education; Indigenous People; Identity; Rural Teacher; Nation.
