This article disscusses how some anthropologists, both foreign and domestics, configured a stereotype of indigenous mexican women.The purpose is to observe that configuration on the basis of some ethnographic studies and images circunscribed to them, made between 1890 and 1921. The backbone of the argument, then, revolves around the conceptions that anthropologists have acquired with respect to the indigenous people, who signified their object of study.
