Resumen
ABBONDANZA, Ermanno. La Cuestión Yaqui en el segundo Porfiriato, 1890-1909. Una revisión de la historia oficial. Sig. his [online]. 2008, vol.10, n.19, pp.94-126. ISSN 1665-4420.
The issue of the Yaqui people, namely the Cuestión Yaqui, is a controversial historical process, made polemic both by elevated levels of violence and by its ties to the economic and political interests of the upper echelons of the Porfiriato. This work intends to question the narratives of the official historians. While they showed indigenous savagery and the economic returns of plantation owners and merchants as central characteristics of the period, they underestimated the instrumental role played by the Yaquis, and the political and economic interests, far from their territorial claims for autonomy. Second purpose is to show that these issues left the Yaqui Indians in a very submissive position inside the regime while simultaneously reinforcing a negative image of them in the face of national sentiments. Nevertheless they took a decisive role in the political, economic, social and cultural construction of the Nation-State.
