The obtaining of an hybrid pigment from the intercalation of the natural indigo blue dye (AI) in concentrations from 0.08 to 5% in weight, in the hydrotalcite (HT) by two methods: coprecipitation and memory effect, is reported. By the X-raypowder diffraction (XRD) technique it was proved the achievement of the hydrotalcite-like crystalline phase and the incoporation of AI in the HT for the pigment's formation. By means of the thermogravimetric analysis the limited thermal stability of AI was evidenced as well as the effect of its incorporation in the HT structure.
