SEVILLA SANTO, Dora Esperanza; MARTIN PAVON, Mario José y JENARO RIO, Cristina. Instructor attitudes towards inclusive education and towards students with special educational needs. Innov. educ. (Méx. DF) [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.78, pp.115-141. ISSN 1665-2673.
A key figure in the manifestation of inclusive education is the instructor. For this reason, the objective of this article is to analyze the attitude of instructors towards inclusive education. To this end, we analyzed a sample of instructors at the pre-school, primary and upper secondary levels at public schools in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. They responded to a survey aimed at identifying their attitudes towards the inclusion of people with special educational needs. One of the main results was that the attitude of instructors was negative towards inclusive education, but it became more positive when referring to students with special educational needs. Additionally, we found that the age, sex, field of initial training and educational level where the instructor works are factors that influence his or her attitude.
