The practices of 30 secondary schools in Baja California were analyzed in order to identify the activities related to time management and staff organization that take place in secondary schools with academic results that are higher than the expected for their context (added value). Sixteen high residual and fourteen low residual schools participated, previously selected through multilevel techniques. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with a qualitative approach to investigate the perception of supervisors and managerial teams regarding topics such as academic time management, punctuality and attendance, and other organizational practices executed by the staff and students. The results demonstrated differences between the practices carried out by high and low residual schools, allowing us to confirm that the activities of academic organization and management have an influence on the academic achievement of the students.
