Abstract

HERNANDEZ CASTELLANOS, Donovan Adrián. Baroque in dispute: Carl Schmitt and Walter Benjamin between the aesthetic and the political. Sig. Fil [online]. 2013, vol.15, n.29, pp.71-102. ISSN 1665-1324.

This paper is a comparative study about the Works of Benjamin and Schmitt on the baroque art. It argues that the specific difference between them most be found in their concept of the political. For Benjamin there is a difference between tragedy and drama, the german Trauerspiel it is an allegorical approach to thingsand history. Schmitt argues that the singularity of baroque drama is the irruption of time in the plastic form. These are the points that the paper proposes.
