Abstract
AGUAYO ROUSELL, Hilda Berenice and PINA OSORIO, Juan Manuel. Expresiones de racismo en una muestra de estudiantes universitarios en méxico. Sinéctica [online]. 2016, n.46. ISSN 2007-7033.
Our purpose is to explore the terms used by students of three intercultural universities to refer to the indigenous, as a sign of racist expressions. It is analyzed how in modern times racism adopts new faces, reflected in simulated and subtle discriminatory practices. Empirical researches conducted in Spain, France, Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala, Colombia and Chile were reviewed and they reveal different modes of racism. The presence of racism in Mexico and the phenomenon of miscegenation are also documented, and how because of the recent inclusive policies the historical and cultural heritage of indigenous groups has been ignored. In order to obtain field information an instrument of words association was developed. It was applied to 168 students and analyzed by the semantic networks technique. Three analytical categories were obtained: Acceptance, stigmatization and denunciation. The results show that the inductor term indigenous contains high levels of acceptance; young people used different words to express pride for the rich culture and ancient traditions inherited. However, it also appeared expressions of non-acceptance and rejection, using words with negative meaning, these words are not representative but it is essential to bring them because they are evidence of the persistence of racist expressions in college students.
