DIEZ-MARTINEZ, Evelyn. Deshonestidad académica de alumnos y profesores: Su contribución en la desvinculación moral y corrupción social. Sinéctica [online]. 2015, n.44, pp.1-17. ISSN 2007-7033.
Academic dishonesty has been largely studied among students with auto reports about their dishonest behaviors, showing a considerable increase within all educational levels in several countries. Though numerous studies show professors responses about the academic dishonesty among students, there are few studies that analyze academic dishonesty among teachers. Research on this matter in Mexico is scarce in specialized literature. Therefore our objectives consisted in analyzing some of the dishonest practices in educational institutions among students and teachers, and if these practices enhance aspects or situations concerning a sensible problem in our society, that of corruption and the moral disengagement it involves. A questionnaire was applied to a sample of 208 students in high school and university levels living in the city of Queretaro in Mexico. Data show significant frequencies of academic dishonesty behaviors among students and professors. The discussion is made analyzing academic dishonesty as a problem of corruption and moral disengagement and considering the importance of professors in minimizing these behaviors in students as well as in their own practice.
