Abstract

RUIZ MUNOZ, María Mercedes. El derecho a la educación y la construcción de indicadores educativos con la participación de las escuelas. Sinéctica [online]. 2014, n.43, pp.01-19. ISSN 2007-7033.

This article explores the right to education and the construction of educational indicators using an inductive process with the involvement of teachers and administrators of state schools in differing sociocultural contexts: Pueblo de Santa Fe in Mexico City; Nezahualcóyotl in the state of Estado de México; and the Altos de Chiapas region in the state of Chiapas. It draws on the "4 As" model (affordability and/or availability, accessibility, acceptability, adaptability) developed by Tomasevski while adopting a qualitative research paradigm. The voices of the various actors are heard: pupils, teachers, administrators and parents. The study was based on in-depth interviews, observations and documentary analysis. In the epistemological perspective underpinning the work, the researcher is the main instrument throughout all stages of the research process (Taylor & Bogdan: 2000), meaning that their particular focuses and the involvement of school administrators, teachers, pupils and parents are deemed essential.

Keywords : right to education; educational indicators and school-community involvement.
