Abstract

GARCIA CABRERO, Benilde  and  KLEIN KREISLER, Ivonne. La construcción de ambientes educativos para la convivencia pacífica: el modelo pedagógico del programa SaludARTE. Sinéctica [online]. 2014, n.42, pp.1-13. ISSN 2007-7033.

The purpose of this article is to describe and analyze the theoretical and methodological foundations of the Pedagogical Model of the Programme SaludARTE, aimed at promoting civic education of students participating in complementary activities that take place during the extended schedule of primary schools in Mexico City. SaludARTE has as its main goal, to promote in children attending public elementary schools, the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes for self-care and relationships with the environment, through food assistance, training in and through art, nutrition education and physical activities. The Educational Model of SaludARTE specially emphasizes education for citizenship through seven cross curricular axes that provide unity to the various areas of complementary activities. These axes cut across all activities and are specific elements that promote civic and ethical development of students, in order to provide students with tools to know, accept and interact with others in a position of respect and dialogue. The article emphasizes the need for educational innovations like SaludARTE to be supported theoretically and methodologically by explicit Educational Models that allow guiding the pilot program, its further refinement and adjustment, as well as the evaluation of the impact of its application.

Keywords : teaching model; civic education; peace education; school climate; peaceful coexistence.
