Resumen
JUAREZ BOLANOS, Diego. Educación rural en escuelas primarias de Cuba. Sinéctica [online]. 2012, n.38, pp.1-18. ISSN 2007-7033.
The article points out some of the reasons that explain the development of rural education in Cuba, where the academic results of primary students in international tests show no significant differences between students who live in rural and urban areas, in contrast to what happens in the rest of the Latin America countries. Certain factors are identified, for instance the existence of a teaching and administrative structure of the Cuban educational system, in which the various actors participate with clear roles and hierarchy; the solid preparation of teachers; teaching support (such as the educational channel or educational software) that allows the teachers to offer their students in different grades more personal interaction; the comprehensive curriculum with a strong emphasis in the development of arts and sports; the effective and creative use of resources in the classroom; schooling for parents and the essential issue that education has been a national priority for the Cuban government for over five decades.
